Scope and Contents:
Files consist of questionnaires filled out by WPA, PWAP (Public Works of Art Project), Treasury Section, and TRAP (Treasury Relief Art Project) artists for O'Connor's Federal Support for the Visual Arts: The New Deal and Now project (FSVA) dating from 1967-1969. Included in some artists' files are original artist correspondence, curriculum vitae, exhibition catalogs, and announcements. Also found are copies of WPA correspondence from the National Archives, and copies of Government Service Administration employment histories. Original research notations, and two reports drafted by O'Connor are retained within the records. Statistical data derived from the questionnaires are included in the reports.
Collection Restrictions:
This collection is open for research. Access to original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C. Research Center. Researchers interested in accessing audiovisual recordings and born-digital records in this collection must use access copies. Contact References Services for more information.
