Scope and Contents:
Artwork by Kepes includes five caricatures for "The Emperor's New Clothes" (1934), and eleven folders of pencil, pen, and ink sketches with accompanying notes, in addition to circa sixteen large format paintings and painted sketches on paper and board. Sketches and paintings include designs for exhibitions and publications, stained glass designs, and studies for paintings. Posters includes a series of thirteen posters designed by Kepes for a 1977 exhibitions during his artist-in-residency at Dartmouth College. Also found are four stencils of numerical and elliptical forms.
Collection Restrictions:
Use of original papers requires an appointment and is limited to the Archives' Washington, D.C., Research Center. Use of archival audiovisual recordings with no duplicate copies requires advance notice.
