The bulk of Alphabetical Files is a mix of business correspondence and business records. The correspondence is mostly with galleries, museums, universities, and, to a lesser extent, clients concerning sales, consignments, loans and exhibitions. Also found are general inquiries to the gallery; subject files related to exhibitions and the daily operation of the gallery; some bills and receipts; and scattered business and legal records.
Upon processing, the original arrangement of materials found in this series was unknown. The processing archivist chose to describe the series "Alphabetical Files" as portions of the mixed materials were often arranged alphabetically.
