This accession consists of exhibition records created during the tenures of Warren M. Robbins, Director, 1979-1983; Sylvia H. Williams, Director, 1983-1996; and Sharon F. Patton, Director, 2003-2008. Exhibitions documented include "African Masterpieces from the Musee de l'Homme;" "The Art of Being Tuareg: Sahara Nomads in a Modern World;" "Inscribing Meaning: Writing and Graphic Systems in African Art;" "Icons: Ideals and Power in the Art of Africa;" "The Nsukka Group: Tradition, Innovation and Experimentation in Nigerian Modern Art;" "Patterns of Life: West African Strip-Weaving Traditions;" "The Past in the Present: Seven Nigerian Contemporary Artists;" "Sounding Forms: African Musical Instruments;" "Textures: Word and Symbol in Contemporary African Art;" "Treasures;" and "Arts and Cultures of the Islamic World."
