Biographical / Historical:
Donald Guthrie Cathcart [1889-1973] reported to the United States Army Balloon School in 1917. He was a free balloon pilot, an aerial observer, and flight instructor before his honorable discharge in 1920. Cathcart served at both Ross Field, Arcadia, California, and Fort Omaha, Nebraska. He was also a member of National Association of American Balloon Corps Veterans (NAABCV) and the Wingfoot Lighter than Air Society.
