Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of the following: fourteen negatives; a folder of calendars and invitations from the French Brigade de Bombardement (31st and 34 Escadres); a few articles written by Robert Butler; a propaganda leaflet in Arabic (probably for Operation Torch); a brochure on Edinburgh, Scotland, for the U.S. Armed Forces; and 138 black and white photographs, both snapshots as well as images by Army Air Corps photographers. The images show both personnel and aircraft, notably the Martin (Glenn L.) B-26 Marauder, at both MacDill Air Force Base and in North Africa and Sardinia.
Biographical / Historical:
Robert Butler was a Staff Sergeant with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Butler was a writer, stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, and also appears to have spent time in North Africa with the 12th Air Force.
