Scope and Contents:
MS 573-a: Chikasa [vocabulary]. Southern (Indian) Department. Jan. 21, 1866. 10p. Entered in 20-p. printed schedule issued by the Smithsonian, May 1863. Listed by Pilling, BAE Bull. 9, p. 40. MS 573-b: Chikasa [vocabulary]. n.d. 7 p. Apparently copied from MS 573-a. Differs somewhat in arrangement and numbering of terms. Differences in use of diacritical marks and in spelling are possibly due to copyist's misinterpretation of 573-a. Generally more legible than 573-a and therefore of use in interpreting the original.
